Technology & Engineering career quizzes
Software developer, data scientist, cybersecurity analyst, civil engineer, product manager — the technology and engineering field is wide enough that "am I a tech person?" is the wrong question. The useful one is which kind: do you want to build things, secure things, analyse things or design the system others build? Those preferences separate roles far more than raw ability does.
These quizzes cover software, data, security, product and the traditional engineering disciplines. They score systematic thinking, tolerance for debugging and detail, preference for solo deep work versus collaboration, appetite for constant learning, and whether you'd rather ship quickly or get it exactly right.

What these quizzes measure
Analytical and systematic thinking, persistence with detail, preference for building versus analysing, collaboration style, and comfort with a field that changes underneath you.
How to use your results
Take one build-oriented quiz (developer, engineer), one analysis-oriented quiz (data analyst, scientist) and one people-oriented one (product manager, IT support). The spread tells you which side of the field you belong on.
Frequently asked questions
Should I be a software engineer?
The quiz scores the traits that predict persistence in the role — comfort with problems that resist for hours, preference for precise work, and willingness to keep learning — rather than whether you already code.
Data science or software development?
Both are analytical; data work leans toward statistics, ambiguity and communicating findings, development toward building and maintaining systems. Take both quizzes and compare.
Do I need a computer science degree?
For most software and data roles, no — demonstrated skill matters more. Licensed engineering disciplines (civil, structural) are the exception. Each quiz notes the typical route.
