Become a certified midwife in Singapore
To become a certified midwife in Singapore, one must first obtain a diploma or degree in midwifery from a recognized institution. The diploma or degree program should be accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) and the Ministry of Health (MOH). After completing the program, one must register with the SNB and obtain a license to practice as a midwife in Singapore.
To maintain their license, midwives must complete continuing education courses and meet the SNB's requirements for professional development. Midwives must also adhere to the SNB's code of ethics and conduct, which includes maintaining patient confidentiality, providing safe and competent care, and respecting patients' rights and autonomy.
In addition to obtaining a license, midwives can also pursue certification through the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). The ICM offers a certification program for midwives that is recognized globally. To be eligible for certification, midwives must meet certain education and experience requirements and pass an examination.
