Become a certified nail tech in Arkansas
To become a certified nail technician in Arkansas, you must first complete a state-approved nail technician program. These programs can be found at community colleges, vocational schools, and private beauty schools. The program must consist of at least 600 hours of training, which includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practice.
Once you have completed the program, you must pass the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology's written and practical exams. The written exam covers topics such as sanitation, safety, and state laws and regulations. The practical exam requires you to demonstrate your skills in performing various nail services, such as manicures, pedicures, and artificial nail applications.
After passing both exams, you will receive your nail technician license from the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology. This license must be renewed every two years and requires continuing education credits to be completed during each renewal period.
It is important to note that Arkansas does not offer reciprocity for nail technician licenses from other states. If you are licensed in another state and wish to practice in Arkansas, you must complete the state-approved nail technician program and pass the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology's exams.
