Become a certified mediator in Georgia
To become a certified mediator in Georgia, there are several steps that need to be followed. Firstly, an individual must complete a 40-hour basic mediation training program that is approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. This training program covers the fundamentals of mediation, including communication skills, conflict resolution techniques, and ethical considerations. After completing the training program, the individual must then complete a minimum of 20 hours of supervised mediation experience. This experience can be gained through volunteering with a community mediation center or by working with a practicing mediator. Once the supervised mediation experience is completed, the individual must then submit an application to the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, along with proof of completion of the training program and supervised mediation experience. The application will be reviewed, and if approved, the individual will be certified as a mediator in Georgia. It is important to note that ongoing continuing education is required to maintain certification as a mediator in Georgia.
