Become a certified herbalist in India

To become a certified herbalist in India, one must first acquire a basic education in the field of herbal medicine. This can be done by enrolling in a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program, which is a five-and-a-half-year course that covers various aspects of Ayurveda, including herbal medicine. Alternatively, one can pursue a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Herbal Science, which is a three-year course that focuses solely on herbal medicine.

After completing the basic education, one can opt for a postgraduate course in herbal medicine, such as a Master of Science (MSc) in Herbal Medicine or a Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) in Herbal Medicine. These courses provide in-depth knowledge of herbal medicine and its various applications.

Once the education is complete, one can apply for certification from various organizations, such as the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) or the American Herbalists Guild (AHG).
