How to become a certified arborist in Singapore
Singapore did not build its own arborist scheme — it adopted the international one. The ISA Certified Arborist credential is administered locally by the National Parks Board's Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology, along with the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. So in Singapore the ISA credential is the local credential. Note the similarly-named CUGE scheme, Certified Practising Horticulturist, is a different profession entirely.
What you need
ISA eligibility is three or more years of full-time practical work experience in arboriculture, or a degree in a related field. CUGE runs an ISA Certified Arborist Preparatory Programme to prepare candidates for the exam.
The route
Accumulate the eligibility experience, take the CUGE preparatory programme and sit the ISA Certified Arborist exam through CUGE. The certification runs three years and is renewable. Add TRAQ, valid five years, if you intend to do tree risk assessment work. NParks maintains a public listing of ISA Certified Arborists.
What catches people out
This is effectively mandatory for development work rather than a nice-to-have. NParks' Guidelines on Greenery Provision and Tree Conservation for Developments require that "All arborist reports shall be prepared by a CA" with a current, unexpired certificate — and the arborist must be engaged "at the start of the planning stage", covering tree retention selection, inspections, conservation measures and monitoring throughout construction.

Arborists in Singapore are paid what their employer sets.
NParks administers the ISA credential locally through CUGE but publishes no pay figure.
The credential is what creates the work. NParks' development guidelines require arborist reports to be prepared by a Certified Arborist, and TRAQ widens what you can be engaged for to include tree risk assessment.
No official scale is published for this role, so treat any single figure you find online as a third-party estimate rather than a rate you can rely on.
