Take the test
As an introverted personality type, INFJs tend to be introspective and reflective, preferring to spend time alone or in small groups rather than large, boisterous crowds. This can sometimes make them appear shy or reserved, but in reality, they are often very passionate and engaged when it comes to their interests and causes they care about.
INFJs are intuitive, meaning they rely on their intuition and gut instincts to make decisions and understand the world around them. They are able to pick up on subtle cues and nuances in people and situations, making them excellent judges of character and often able to predict outcomes with startling accuracy. As feeling types, INFJs are deeply attuned to their emotions and the emotions of others. They are compassionate and caring individuals who often prioritize the needs of others above their own. They are driven by a desire to create harmony and balance in their relationships and environments, and may go to great lengths to avoid conflict or confrontation.
Finally, INFJs are judging types, meaning they prefer structure, organization, and planning in their lives. They are goal-oriented and often have a clear vision of what they want to achieve, but they also tend to be flexible and adaptable when unexpected obstacles arise. Overall, INFJs are compassionate, intuitive, and strategic individuals who are able to see the big picture and work towards creating positive change in their personal and professional lives. They may struggle with feeling overwhelmed or burnt out by their intense focus on the needs of others, but are often highly respected for their ability to see the potential in people and situations and work towards a better future.

INFJ Cognitive Functions

Introverted intuitives, or INFJs, possess a deep understanding of inner, unconscious processes that extends beyond that of their INTJ counterparts. Unlike extraverted sensing types who focus on the observable dynamics of the physical world, INFJs have a keen ability to discern the hidden psychological stimuli that drive behavior and emotions. This unique insight allows them to act spontaneously and creatively to find solutions in a variety of situations. INFJs are often recognized for their uncanny ability to perceive the inner workings of the mind, will, and emotions of others, earning them the reputation of seers and prophets. Their introverted intuition frees them from the rigidity of introverted sensing, enabling them to approach each event with insight and flexibility.

Introverted iNtuition

Extraverted Feeling, as the auxiliary function for INFJs, allows them to express their opinions and emotions about people, but they often struggle with finding the right balance between being honest and being tactful. They are careful in choosing who to confide in, as they understand the potential for betrayal. INFJs use their combination of introverted intuition and extraverted feeling to become insightful counselors. They may express their emotions privately to trusted allies who they know will not betray their confidence. This raw material of intuition and feeling allows them to perceive and understand others on a deep level, providing them with the foundation for becoming wise advisors.

Extraverted Feeling

The INFJ's thinking function is introverted, meaning it's directed inwardly towards their own thoughts and ideas. During this mode of thinking, the INFJ can appear aloof and distant, leading others to believe they're disillusioned or unimpressed. However, this detachment is simply a sign that the INFJ is deeply engaged in their own mental processes, and is often focused on their tertiary function. This function may be less efficient, but it's still a valuable tool that helps the INFJ understand the world and people around them.

Introverted Thinking

INFJs possess both internal and external clarity of vision. Their inner vision is drawn to the forms of the unconscious, while their external sensing perception easily takes hold of worldly objects. However, sensing is the weakest function of the INFJ, making them vulnerable to becoming oblivious to physical reality. Under stress, INFJs may fall prey to various forms of immediate gratification. Despite this, many yearn to live spontaneously and take on an "SP wannabe" persona, often seen in INFJ actors playing ESTP roles. The awareness of extraverted sensing is likely the source of this desire.
